INQ reveals its Facebook phones in the Cloud Touch and Cloud Q

We’ve heard a lot of rumors over the last few months of the coming of a so-called Facebook Phone, possibly in the form of the INQ Cloud series of Android phones. Now that Cloud Touch and Cloud Q smartphones are here, and while they’re hardly the official Facebook phones were were hoping for, they’re certainly not shy about cramming as much social networking in as possible.

Powered by Android 2.2 Froyo, INQ’s Cloud phones are thoroughly integrated with Facebook, accessing Facebook as soon as you start a device with no need for a dedicated app. Once you’re online, everything from your Facebook profile is inputed into the belly of the phone, including friends, contacts, pictures and notifications. In fact, the entire home-screen is devoted exclusively to the world’s largest social network.

Hardware-wise, the Cloud Touch is INQ’s first touchscreen phone and boasts a 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 600Mhz Qualcomm processor and 4MB of inbuilt memory expandable to 4GB through microSD. There’s also a 5MP camera and WiFi, although network connectivity tops out at EDGE. The Cloud Q is the same phone, but with a QWERTY chiclet keypad.

Outside of the dedicated focus to Facebook, these INQ phones haveone more trick up their sleeve: they both ship with Spotify in Europe, and even boast a dedicated Spotify button on the right hand side of the device that controls playlists.

Intriguingly, INQ’s designers say the Cloud phones boast designs inspired by both Star Wars EVE. All together, the Cloud Touch and Cloud Q look like cute, entry-level smartphones for the Facebook crowd. Not iPhone-killers, sure, but it’s certainly nice to see a smartphone so confident in its niche.
