The Gingerbread update for the popular Nexus One was supposed to happen last November, but the latest reports show that the 2.3 update has finally made it to the platform this week. But that’s not all, Nexus S owners will get an OTA update too.
Hopefully by now users with this phone will get a message signaling that the 2.3 firmware can be downloaded (however, we recommended doing this over a Wi-Fi connection), but as with most updates you may need to wait a few days for this to appear as Google will likely push this out incrementally to avoid overloading their servers.
As for the Nexus S which already has 2.3, the update will feature various bug fixes in the shape of fixing random reboot issues, changes in the way Facebook syncing works, performance enhancements and additional support for its Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
