Back to Mobile Print iOS 4.3 for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad coming March 11th, Personal Hotspot included Mar. 5, 2011 (10:10 am) By: Brian Osborne

Back in February, we reported a rumor that AT&T’s iPhone would get the same mobile hotspot functionality as Verizon’s iPhone through the release iOS 4.3. It was believed that the iOS would be available for download in conjunction with AT&T’s launch of the HTC Inspire 4G which also featured the AT&T Mobile Hotspot application. Unfortunately, we soon learned that was only a rumor leaving AT&T iPhone users without their mobile hotspot functionality. Now it seems we may have more specific information thanks to some leaked insider info.

The iOS 4.3 update for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad will be available for download from iTunes beginning March 11th. With it comes the missing mobile hotspot functionality, or Personal Hotspot as Apple calls it, for AT&T iPhone owners which allows connections for up to five devices. Three of the devices will be supported through Wi-Fi while the other two are supported through a Bluetooth or USB connection. To conserve battery, if your Personal Hotspot is no longer being used the iPhone will turn it off.

Besides the Personal Hotspot, users can also look forward to:

Airplay enhancements – Now streams video from your Photos appImproved Safari performance – Runs JavaScript twice as fast as iOS 4.2iTunes Home Sharing – Your iTunes library, including music and video, can be accessed from your PC or Mac via Wi-Fi using your iPhone, iPad and iPod touchCustomize iPad side switch – Users can now use the iPad’s side switch to mute the device or lock screen rotation

According to the leaked AT&T document, the update will also include Facetime (which supports other devices including the Mac), Photobooth and iMovie for the iPad 2. Those with the original iPhone and iPhone 3G will have to watch others get the update from the sidelines since iOS 4.3 is not compatible with them.

HTC Salsa and ChaCha in UK in June, the Incredible S in March

HTC's Facebook-loving duo, the HTC Salsa and HTC ChaCha, will be arriving at the UK in June. Also in the UK, the HTC Incredible S is on pre-order right now and will be available much sooner than its SNS-infused siblings.

The HTC Salsa and HTC ChaCha made waves at the MWC with their dedicated Facebook buttons and deeply integrated Facebook connectivity. You can read up on our impressions of the two, in case you missed it.

So far we've heard that Vodafone UK will be carrying the HTC ChaCha (supposedly, Orange and Three will too). Now, Expansys UK has put the ChaCha up on pre-order along with the HTC Salsa.

The expected release date is set for 17 June, but there's not much info - nothing on price or carriers.

The HTC Incredible S will arrive sooner though - it's expected on the 3 March. It's been on pre-order at Amazon Germany for a while now but wasn't available in the UK.

Mobiles.co.uk have it on pre-order for Vodafone, O2 and Orange, although prices for Orange haven't been confirmed yet. You can get the HTC Incredible S from Vodafone UK for free with ?30/month (2-year contract), while O2 has it for free with ?25.53/month (again, 2-year contract).

There are plenty of other plans so you can choose the one that fits you best. Oh, and we have some hands-on impressions from the Incredible S too. It will run Froyo at launch, with plans to upgrade later.

Update, 25 February: Mobiles.co.uk tweeted that the HTC Incredible S is shipping starting today (Friday) and your unit can arrive as soon as this Saturday. You can get it on a contract with Vodafone or O2, it's not yet available for Orange (you can sign up to be notified when it does become available).

Categories: Gaming, sony

While you wait for your PS3 compatible NGP, you could now buy its silver companion in March. Sony announced that it would be releasing the Silver PlayStation 3 on 10th of March. Unfortunately, the launch is limited to Japan only. Silver PS3 would priced at ¥29,980 (£228) for the 160GB model and ¥34,980 (£266) for the 320GB model.

The Silver PS3 bundles in Japan might be available with Dynasty Warriors 7, Motor Storm 3 or the next Yakuza, which would be released during the same time of the year. Sony earlier released the non-slim Silver PS3 for Japan-only. There is no news weather the slim Silver PS3 would be released across the seas and while we all do love Holi, we would await more details on the NGP :)
