Microsoft releases first Windows Phone 7 update, here is how to get it

If you are using a windows mobile phone then someone from you might have noticed that pop-ups are appearing on the screen notifying you about the software update which has been made available by Microsoft. LG releases poor results for Q4 2010, set to go premium in 2011

Today LG announced their report on how 2010 went for them and things are not going well for the company?s mobile division. In order to get back in black zone for 2011, the South Koreans plan to to focus on their premium line of smartphones.

Overall, things haven?t been so great for LG in Q4 2010. The company sold $2.96 billion worth of devices, which is an increase of 12% percent compared to Q3 2010, but it's still some 15.2 percent lower than the revenue scored from handsets in Q4 2009. What's worse, LG is still in the red zone with a loss of $232 million.

The overall shipment of phones has increased by 8 percent over Q3 2010 with a total of 30.6 million units shipped in Q4. This is 10% less than the number of units shipped for the same quarter for 2009.

In North America, Europe and Korea LG recons the increase in sales is due to the Optimus One, which seems to be doing rather well for the company. For Q1 we are sure things would pick up with the launch of the Optimus 2X and possibly, LG Optimus Black and Optimus 3D.

Stepping back from the quarter perspective, the LG 2010 yearly results don?t look pink either. For 2010 LG total revenue from handsets is $11.4 billion, which is a whopping 24,9% decrease over 2009.

We're glad LG will be stepping up their game in 2011 because HTC outpaced them based on total handset revenue in Q4 2011 by a good half a billion US dollars.

Google releases Android 3 (Honeycomb) SDK to developers

Google needs to do a lot with the next version of their Android operating system, codenamed Honeycomb… namely, bring it up to par with iOS in the tablet OS space. That’s an area even Gingerbread isn’t very good at, and so Honeycomb is going to say a lot about Android’s long term viability as an OS for larger screen touch devices.
Luckily, it seems things are shaping up nicely so far. Google has just revealed the Android 3.0 SDK, which not only includes a refined UI framework for large-screen devices and all sorts of other tablet-centric tweaks, but also support for multi-core processors, high-quality 2D and 3D graphics, Bluetooth A2DP and HSP.
The first thing you’ll notice about the developer preview is the new Honeycomb UI which stretches the system bar at the bottom of larger displays and gives global status info, while a top action bar allows you to manage your apps. The browser gets multiple tab support, allowing for more comfortable full-screen navigation, and it even supports Chrome bookmark syncing, multitouch support for JavaScript and plugins, and auto-sign-on into Google accounts.
Honeycomb also gives enterprise customers some new stuff to love, including support for encrypted storage, password expiration and e-mail.
Honeycomb’s looking great so far, but there’s many months yet before we get it. Until Google can get a release candidate of Honeycomb out the door, Android is just not going to be on firm footings in the tablet space.
